Claire Matheson
Claire has worked in education since 1994 as a primary school teacher. She has taught across the primary age range and specialised in teaching Foundation Stage for the past 10 years. She has also been a Deputy Head and co-ordinated literacy support programmes in school. After gaining her Levels 1 and 2 BSL qualifications in 2001/2002 through the OCSL, Claire became very interested in the benefits of using sign language with all children.
Claire subsequently used baby sign language with her daughter, Katie and then began using a few signs (alongside speech) in her teaching. Over time signing became an important part of her everyday classroom practice for all children, helping to develop inclusion, confidence and communication. She found signing to be very beneficial to all learners.
Before developing Come Sign With Me with her colleague Jenna, Claire also owned a franchise teaching baby signing. Claire’s teaching and training base is in Worcestershire.

I am a Mum with 2 daughters aged 5 and 3. My youngest daughter is hearing impaired and I wanted us to learn BSL together as a family. We enjoy every class so much! My girls are using signing alongside speech and have picked up signing very quickly. We find the classes jam packed with stories, songs, games and lots of fun! Tuesday signing is a highlight in our week!
I would have no hesitation is recommending Come Sign With Me to you, these classes would be hard to beat!

Claire is lovely and very willing to teach new signs that are used in our everyday lives that may not be covered in the weekly topics... I would certainly recommend baby signing to others and hope to continue to more advanced levels. |

Claire led the sessions extremely well and was impressively organised. She had a good rapport with Danny and he clearly enjoyed his signing lessons and I did too!
